How you will contribute

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Brake Press Helper position in the Global Engineered Support Structures division’s Midsize Poles department. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will assist the brake operator in the setup, programming, and operation of the brake press. Additionally, you will…

  • Prepare, load, and move metal sheet onto the conveyor of the brake press
  • Bend metal sheet using the brake press
  • Inspect each product once bent to ensure that the bend was correct
  • Send metal sheet to seaming operation after brake press procedures
  • Recognize lamination and material defects and notify quality assurance or supervisor
  • Act as Brake Press Operator once trained to do so

What it takes

Required Qualifications

  • The ability to read and decipher blueprints and flat sheets correctly
  • The ability to use and read both regular and Outside Diameter (OD) tape measures accurately
  • The ability to make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery
  • The ability to successfully complete Valmont overhead crane operation training courses
  • The ability to setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment
  • The ability to learn how to operate one other machine
  • Must have an acceptable attendance and prior employment record
  • The ability to operate the basic functions of a personal computer

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • One year of previous experience using a brake press
  • One year of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • Knowledge of basic programming and set-up of PLC controlled machinery
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
