A Brief Summary of This Position:

The CRM Software Intern will support the day-to-day activities of the Salesforce Department while working closely with all members of the Information Technology team. They will contribute to the business, will lead and own certain deliverables and will also be assigned to specific, meaningful projects throughout the duration of the internship.

Valmont’s internship program mission is to provide a hands-on learning experience through project work, leadership development, job shadowing and interaction with senior leadership.

Essential Functions:

  • Utilize Salesforce.com, an industry leading database (CRM), behind the scenes, and learn valuable data management and software administration skills
  • Support the ongoing development and data integrity of our database
  • Ensure data cleanliness and security
  • Assist with interpreting results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to data mining to ETL (extract, transform, load) of data
  • Address data quality issues such as duplicates, unlinked or incomplete records
  • Assist with data projects as they arise
  • Serve as Level 1 Support for Salesforce user support tickets and escalate to other Salesforce administrators on the team as necessary
  • Assist in developing creative and innovative company specific training videos, user guides and documents
  • Respond to user needs (internal and external)
  • Assist with updating documentation for training purposes on demand
  • Edit and build reports and dashboards for all levels of users
  • Gain knowledge about our organization within Salesforce
  • Keep yourself and the Salesforce Administrative team up to date on current features and enhancements
  • Present new ideas or process innovations during brainstorming meetings
  • Activate and deactivate users when prompted (assist with password and lock out issues)
  • Document user requests by creating work items with detailed description of problem/feature requests
  • Able to make minor updates to object fields, page layouts, basic work flow, etc.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Business Intelligence, Business Analytics, Finance, or other related field
  • A customer centric approach — patient, helpful, and ready to educate other staff (our internal customers) how to use our tech tools most effectively
  • A positive, pleasant and excitable attitude towards our users
  • Organized, analytical, methodical thinking, with effective listening skills
  • Passionate about finding technical solutions to organizational challenges
  • Obsessed with accuracy and high security standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle many requests, sometimes under pressure
  • Interest in emerging IT and online organizing trends as it relates to the Manufacturing industry
  • Prepared to self-teach and problem solve independently via internet tools
  • Proficient with MS 365

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Some experience with databases, Salesforce.com
  • Experience with any of the following a plus: Pardot, Einstein, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Communities, Conga Composer, Data Loader, SQL

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting.  The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings.    Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time.  No travel requirements for this position.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer.  The employee is occasionally required to move about the office.  Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
