How you will contribute

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Engineer Technician position in the Global Engineered Support Structures (ESS) Division, at the Plymouth Indiana location.  We are looking for a highly driven individual who will support the engineering and customer service departments, coordinate between Valmont and our representatives as well as customers in creating accurate sales orders, documentation of the bill of material including product drawings and analysis, assist in software development and production documents, provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers in a professional and friendly manner, communicate with production staff ensuring accurate understanding of the production engineering processes, and support customers with in the field technical issues that may arise during the tower erection process.  Additionally, you will. . .

• Review sales orders and customer specifications to ensure project accuracy
• Support the Engineering team with the day to day workload
• Prepare final bill of materials (BOM) and save to archive
• Prepare final structural tower drawings and save to archive
• Assist in maintaining the parts database
• Review drawings related to CAD product development
• Support aftermarket sales
• Take cold calls from outside the company regarding field problems, shipping shortages and general requests for information
• Perform any other duties, as may be assigned by Supervisor including but not limited to R&D, root cause analysis, etc.
• Establish and maintain a reliable working relationship between the regional team, production and Valmont representatives, as well as our Customers
  

  What it takes

  
  Required Qualifications:

• Associates Degree in an engineering or science related field and/or 2+ years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing drafting position
• Drafting experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD programs
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, especially: Excel, Word and Outlook
• Self-starter with excellent organizational skills with an ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently
• Demonstrated strengths in interpersonal skills, including the ability to adapt and professionally communicate with a variety of people via phone, e-mail and in-person
• The ability to solve complex problems with high attention to detail and work in a fast-paced environment subject to specific deadlines
• Must be able to remain seated for long periods of time performing clerical duties
• Must have an acceptable attendance and prior employment record
• Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
  

  Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

• Previous manufacturing, production experience in a steel/metal facility
• The ability to understand and analyze engineering details, project plans, and specifications including reading and interpreting blue prints and shop drawings
• The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner and be an integral part of a team environment
