Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Manufacturing Manager position in Farmington, MN. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will assume responsibility for managing the production process.  This includes, but is not limited to providing direct supervision of manufacturing personnel; contributing to the efficient production of the steel and aluminum structures.  Additionally, you will . . .

  • Lead, promote and nurture a Safety minded environment;
  • Monitor and maintain the production planning and flow process;
  • Provide ongoing forecasting and capacity management;
  • Establish and maintain procedures that ensure high standards of productivity, product quality, cost effectiveness and safety;
  • Utilize human and capital resources to meet site goals while consistently serving the needs of the customer;
  • Support improvement efforts utilizing lean manufacturing and contains improvement techniques;
  • Provide leadership, direction, accountability and motivation to employees;
  • Support a continuous Quality Improvement mentality on the production floor.

What it takes

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in business, quality, engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a formal manufacturing leadership role
  • Demonstrated initiative to make decisions, lead issues towards resolution, demonstrate complete follow through and take timely action
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Products including; Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in Lean Manufacturing with a focus on metal fabrication
  • Demonstrated strengths in interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to adapt to the audience and professionally communicate with a variety of people
  • Strong blueprint reading skills, including weld interpretation
  • Willingness to learn all manufacturing processes.

    Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience and results within a lean manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years’ of manufacturing management experience
  • Lean or Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
  • Strong goal orientation; specifically the ability to focus on goal attainment and obtain predetermined results effectively and efficiently
  • The ability to solve complex problems with high attention to detail and work in a fast-paced environment subject to specific deadlines
  • Diverse knowledge of CNC equipment, aluminum welding and fabrication
  • A person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.
