How you will contribute

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Pickler position in the Global Coatings Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will inspect and move materials through the chemical cleanup process for galvanizing. Additionally, you will…

  • Work with the Lead Kettleman to meet day-to-day production requirements.
  • Screen materials to be galvanized and report unsafe or inappropriate materials
  • Operate an overhead bridge crane in a safe, secure, and productive manner
  • Inspect and report any materials that are rusty, damaged, bent, missing welds, or improperly vented
  • Check chains and rigging to ensure safe dipping
  •   Coordinate movement of material from rigging through tanks to the kettle.
  •   Assist with adding required chemicals to tanks as needed
  •   Ensure quality of product is maintained.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations
  • Maintain a safe and productive working environment and clean work area
  • Complete other duties as required according to department

What it takes

Required Qualifications

  •  Previous experience operating a crane
  • The ability to add and subtract
  • The ability to adequately communicate and understand verbal instructions
  • Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
  • The ability to accurately read a tape measure
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • The ability to push, pull, stand, bend, walk and climb as job requires
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

 Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • One year or more previous experience operating a crane
  • One year of previous experience in a manufacturing environment
  • One year of previous experience in a galvanizing, coatings or chemical environment
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions 
  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
  • The ability to observe, discuss, and implement ideas for continuous improvement in quality and productivity.
