JOB TITLE:  Production Lead, evening shift 7:00pm - 5:30am

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for a Production Lead, evening shift position in Plymouth, IN.  This individual that will act as a materials stager, direct the flow and coordination of work flow and communicate the manufacturing progress on a daily and weekly basis to the Production Manager. This position will be a conduit for all production needs requiring open communication with shop management, industrial engineering, and the production planner.

Additionally, you will. . .

  • Perform welding operations requiring a limited amount of planning of work from blueprints or written specifications and determine operation sequence
  • Maintain and operate production tooling and fixtures as well as welding equipment in a safe and secure manner
  • Recognize and communicate safety issues in your work area to management;
  • Participate in the creation, review and update of Standard Work Procedures in the assigned areas;
  • Coordinate training and ensure competency for all operators on the assigned fixture using the Standard Work Procedures;
  • Understand and manage output expectations and provide daily status of welding and support cells in respect to output issues;
  • Maintain direct communication with management on issues with an impact on output of the production area, such as: equipment/mechanical issues, material issues (quality and/or availability);
  • Provide input for continuous improvement needed at the fixture and/or work area and participate in the improvement process.

What it takes:

Required Qualifications

  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner and be an integral part of a team environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of previous hands-on MIG welding experience in a production environment
  • Previous experience overseeing and leading a manufacturing department/team
  • Ability to read weld symbols and understand blueprints
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds

    Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

  • American Welding Society (AWS) welding certification from a recognized school
  • The ability to solve complex problems with high attention to detail;
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.
