A Brief Summary of This Position

This position is an individual contributor mid-assembler role that is primarily responsible for the demolding process involved in the assembly of concrete poles in accordance with company’s written procedures. The incumbent will also be assigned to assist in various tasks and duties in relation to the pole assembly process, hot working, general housekeeping, using handtools, and other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

  • DEMOLD PROCESS: Receiving Pole; Removing Bolts from Mold; Removing of Mold Section; Setting Molds Section; Connecting Mold Sections; Receiving Pole; Removing Top of Mold; Cutting Cables; Removing Tension Plate; Cutting Bottom Tension Plate; Cutting Top Tension Plate; Removing Insert Bolts; Unbolting Mold; Doing Mold Changes; Cleaning Tension Plates; Interpret Drawing; Run Impact Tool; Identify Pole Sizes; Separating Molds; Lifting Pole from Mold; Setting 4x4 Under Pole; Tension Plate Attachment; Read the daily layout sheet and engineered drawing to differentiate between the different mold section dimensions on a 1220, 1500 and 1600 mm mold.
  • HOT WORKING: Operate PM's; Pole Identification and Traceability; Breaking down pole w/ print; Cutting tip with Plasma Cutter; ; understanding machine method; safety use a plasma cutter to cut strand and chuck bodies at the mold of the butt of mold while applying all safety procedures;  safety use a cutting torch to cut strand and chuck bodies at the mold of the tip of mold while applying all safety procedures; Cutting Cable; Mold Gasket Repair. Unbolt and remove the appropriate mold section per the daily layout sheet with pneumatic hand tools and wrench's. Bolt the appropriate mold section to the mold per the daily layout sheet with pneumatic hand tools and wrench's.
  • GENERAL HOUSEKEEPING: Use of Basic Hand Tools; Reading Tape Measure; Basic Machine Knowledge; Operate PM's; Pole Identification and Traceability; Pole Identification and Traceability; remove PCI Insert bolts with T-handle wrench or cordless impact drill.
  • USING HANDTOOLS: Use pneumatic hand tools to remove T-bolts from mold ergonomically and safely; use a wire brush or pneumatic wire brush with a guard and face shield while cleaning slurry and concrete from tension plates.
  • SAFETY & QUALITY: Demonstrates good safety practices;  perform monthly safety audits. Actively identifies and reduces waste within responsible department - demonstrated via Gemba tracking.; Leads 5s and Gemba board discussions; train others.
  • Folklift operation and ability to learn how to operate crane.
  • Other duties assigned by the management staff.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • High School Diploma or GED is highly desirable but not required
  • One year of general labor experience preferably in a manufacturing environment or willing to learn
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a professional manner
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • The ability to work overtime as needed
  • The ability to work in extreme temperatures with exposure to chemicals and irritating particulates
  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • More than one year of general labor experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in working with concrete or in a similar manufacturing environment

SKILL

Educational Background

Must have basic mathematical skils to be able to work with decimals and fractions; tape measurement skills, and ability to measure using metric and standard system. The ability to read, write and follow non-complex instructions (Reading floor prints and blueprints).

Job Training Skill Development

In addition to the above, should have a basic understanding to make most necessary demolding decisions within three months and have total comprehension of the job within one year.

LINE OF PROMOTION

Assembler 2 is the second of four tiers in a progressive line of Assembler positions. Employees can move upward in progression from an Assembler 1, to an Assembler 2, to an Assembler 3, and to an Assembler 7.
