A Brief Summary of This Position 

This position is an individual contributor top-assembler subject-matter expert role that is primarily responsible for the entire process involved in the assembly of concrete poles in accordance with company’s written procedures. The incumbent will also be assigned to assist in various tasks and duties in relation to the training other employees, tack welding duties, reading and understanding blueprints, leading quality and safety initiatives, and other duties as assigned. 

 

Essential Functions  

  • TRAIN AND PERFORM THE FOLLOWING TASKS: All Assembler 1, 2 and 3 job functions; clean and oil molds; installation strand and spiral; installation of chucks on strand; installation of structure rings; installation of chairs; installation of inserts; cut cable; installation of nameplates; installation of vents; insert tip hardware; set structure rings; stretch spiral wire; insert chairs and spacer; insert pass through pipe; insert hardware in proper locations; housekeeping; verification and preparation; welding the base and tip plates; chuck assembly; prepping mold lids; gasket repair, false plate, silicone; destressing pole; stressing pole; locating the insert bolts; removing bolts; bolts under mold; pre-stress strand; pull spiral to proper pitch; chuck assembly; installation of tip plate and hardware; installation of butt plate and tack welding duties. 

  • QUALITY & SAFETY: Actively identifies and reduces waste within responsible department - demonstrated via Gemba tracking. Leads 5S and Gemba board discussions; layout molds; toolbox talks; partial crane operation.

  • Forklift operation and ability to learn how to operate crane.

  • Read, write, and understand blueprints in English.

  • Other duties assigned by the management staff.

  • The ability to work overtime as needed 

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) 

  • High school diploma or GED is highly desirable but not required

  • One year of general labor experience preferably in a manufacturing environment or willing to learn

  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a professional manner

  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions

  • The ability to work overtime as needed

  • The ability to work in extreme temperatures with exposure to chemicals and irritating particulates

  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems 

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • More than one year of general labor experience preferably in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience in working with concrete or in a similar manufacturing environment 

 

Educational Background 

  •  Must have basic mathematical skills to be able to work with decimals and fractions; tape measurement skills, and ability to measure using metric and standard system. The ability to read, write and follow non-complex instructions (reading floor prints and blueprints).
  • The ability to read, write and follow non-complex instructions.
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and computer proficiency to be able to communicate with other departments, enter time and labor functions as well as request time off.

   

Job Training Skill Development 

In addition to the above, the incumbent should have a basic understanding to make most necessary decisions within three months and have total comprehension of the job within one year.   

 

Decision Making  

The incumbent must be able to voice concerns and provide feedback on all production, quality, and safety issues regarding the scope this position.   

 

Physical Effort 

Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable. Able to balance; bend/stoop; climb stairs; crawl; crouch; climb ladders; kneel; push/pull; reach above shoulder; repetitive motion; squat and feel. Complete repetitive movements. Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable. Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds. Requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/air conditions and around dust. Exposure to hazards in the work environment such as chemicals, oil, power industrial vehicles.
