A Brief Summary of This Position:

This individual contributor position serves as the primary point of contact for the support and Audio-Visual administration for the Valley Campus A/V conference rooms and back-up for the IT PC Support team.  The incumbent will maintain a high level of oversight over all site-specific technical processes and work closely with all levels of employees to ensure that the functionality and scalability of all audio and video equipment continues to meet the user’s needs. The nature of this position requires a high degree of self-directed activity, customer service, professionalism and interaction with all employees, guests, and vendors.  The incumbent must be self-directed, proactive, technically competent, and capable of working under severe time constraints, quick decision making, and extreme pressure. Responsibilities include primary contact for the setup and/or operate, troubleshoot, procurement, and disposal of audio/video equipment in conference rooms; serving as technical resource during meetings that require A/V assistance; working closely with the Audio Visual Engineer and/or Unified Communications Engineer, vendors, and management to ensure that the functionality and scalability of audio/video equipment continues to meet the user needs and other special projects and duties assigned by manager.

Essential Functions:

• This position reports to the Audio Visual Engineer and has no direct or indirect reports
• Up to 5% travel between Valley and Omaha customer locations
• Responsibilities include acquiring, configuring, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, upgrading, and repairing the Audio-Visual analog and digital systems.
• Demonstrated ability to configure personal computers for network operations
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups and multicultural languages
• Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds from a floor or table position using a proper lifting technique
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving and analytical ability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Other Important Details about the Role:

• Maintains a high degree of self-directed activity
• Daily maintenance inspections of all conference rooms
• Administrating the start-up of all conference room meetings and other rooms needing A/V assistance
• Responsible for properly tracking and documenting all A/V system problems, changes, and problem resolutions using the company trouble ticketing system
• Research, procure, configure, install, inspect, and perform complex troubleshooting and repair of personal computers, laptops, and related equipment such as printers and scanners
• Install, test, and perform intermediate troubleshooting and repair of operating systems and over 100 software applications on end user PCs and laptops
• Confer with end users to identify hardware/software needs and then prepare PC equipment for delivery to customers
• Identify and retire equipment that is no longer serviceable
• Handles problems that arise in a timely fashion, even when under severe time constraints and extreme pressure
• Maintains rapport and teamwork with all members of Valmont’s IT staff
• Communicates needs and escalates issues, outages and incidents to Corporate IT Shared Services management as well as the appropriate executive management and\or facility manager

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

• High School diploma and 4+ years of relevant experience or Associate’s degree
• PC Support work experience in a corporate, retail, or manufacturing setting
• Basic knowledge of network components and TCP/IP protocol
• Demonstrated knowledge of Crestron or AMX technologies
• Demonstrated knowledge of voice/video technologies
• Demonstrated knowledge of Digital Signage Solutions
• Thorough knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems, including Windows 10 & 11
• Demonstrated ability to configure personal computers for A/V operations
• Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 software (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint)
• Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds from a floor or table position using a proper lifting technique
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving and analytical ability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Valid driver’s license

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

• Associates Degree of Applied Science in Video/Audio Communications Arts
• One year experience with Crestron technologies
• One year experience with Polycom or Tandberg voice/video conferencing technologies/applications is required
• One year experience with digital signage solutions

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

The working environment extends to the Omaha Corporate Global Headquarters for backup duties of the Audio-Visual Engineer.  Travel, up to 5%, is expected to offsite locations for preparing audio/visual and video conferencing equipment for seminars and conferences. The employee is expected to utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and position, keyboard location and height, and appropriate use of wrist rests.  This position requires manual and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, hand and power tools, and handle computer components. In addition, the position requires the ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds from a floor or table position using a proper lifting technique.  The incumbent is expected to wear required PPE when working at manufacturing or distribution facilities, and meet all physical demands associated with wearing the required PPE and performing the work assigned.
