A Brief Summary of This Position

This position is an individual contributor entry Finisher role that is responsible for preparing finished products to customer specification for storage and shipment. Perform a variety of tasks including placing, finishing, protecting, and repairing concrete. The incumbent will primarily be a subject matter expert in minor cosmetics repairs.

Essential Functions

  • MINOR COSMETIC REPAIRS: Subject matter expert in minor cosmetic repairs and preparation of the pole oer customer specification to include, but not limited to the following: butt plate removal; tip plate removal; chuck maintenance; identification stickers; install hardware/pole caps; put caps on inserts; knock out pipes; pack end of poles with cement; housekeeping; lay out; locating the holes; drilling the holes; filling in extra holes; install the correct ladder clips and bolts into the climbing inserts located in the finished concrete pole; install the right vent caps while ensuring that the caps are help in place firmly with approved bonding agent; install the ground clips and bolts into the climbing inserts located in the finished concrete pole; rock the seams of the concrete pole to remove any sharp edges for safety and aesthetic reason; demonstrates the ability to remove pipe inserts from concrete pole safely and ergonomically while ensure pipes inserts are returned to prod shop; ergonomically shovel concrete in to the bottom of all southern company poles per the engineered drawing; and install plastic red caps per customer specification. 
  • Patch, repair, and clean the finished product.
  • Operate rigging accordingly with the company’s policies.
  • Set up and attach loads to rigging, hoists, and pulling gear to provide support or prepare, for moving, using hand and power tools.
  • Able to operate industrial mobile equipment and dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
  • Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support materials such as concrete utility poles and heavy equipment.
  • Direct employees engaged in hoisting and moving loads, to ensure the safety of workers and materials.
  • Report noticed defects and faults to management.
  • Conduct strenuous and physically demanding tasks for long hours and in extreme environmental conditions.
  • Gather, inspect, repair, and replace reusable materials and components for production rotation.
  • Compliance with the general OHS and fire safety instructions and workplace instructions.
  • Demonstrates good safety practices; performs monthly safety audits.
  • Clean general work areas and ensure equipment, tools, and materials are properly stored.
  • Other duties assigned by the management staff.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • High School Diploma or GED is highly desirable but not required
  • Able to operate handheld electrical tools
  • One year of general labor experience preferably in a manufacturing environment or willing to learn
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a professional manner
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • The ability to work overtime as needed
  • The ability to work in extreme temperatures with exposure to chemicals and irritating particulates
  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • More than one year of general labor experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in working with concrete or in a similar manufacturing environment

SKILL

Educational Background

Must have basic mathematical skills to be able to work with decimals and fractions; tape measurement skills, and the ability to measure using metric and standard systems. The ability to read, write, and follow non-complex instructions (Reading floor prints and blueprints).

Job Training Skill Development

In addition to the above, the incumbent should have a basic understanding to make the most necessary decisions within three months and have total comprehension of the job within one year.

LINE OF PROMOTION

Concrete Finisher 1 is the first of two tiers in a progressive line of Concrete Finisher positions. Employees can move upward in progression from Concrete Finisher  1 to Concrete Finisher 2.
