A Brief Summary of This Position: As a key member of the Investor Relations (IR) team, the Director of Investor Relations plays a critical role in advancing Valmont’s relationship with the investment community through strategic event management, investor-focused communications, and impactful messaging. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Investor Relations and Treasurer, this role leads the Investor Relations function, driving strategy and execution of IR-specific programs including quarterly earnings calls, investor conferences, roadshows, and oversees development of compelling presentations, scripts, and press releases. The role represents Valmont with the investment community and collaborates extensively with executives, internal finance and marketing teams, and external partners. This leadership role is expected to proactively shape Valmont’s investor narrative, anticipate market expectations, and advise senior leadership on investor sentiment and trends. The job requires a broad knowledge of the Company, a familiarity with the investment community, an ability to independently execute complex tasks with scrupulous attention to detail, an ability to discuss complex and evolving business issues, and exceptional written and verbal communications skills. This position requires the ability to work with external advisors to draft press releases, create effective presentations and other communications materials for the financial community, including shareholders, prospects, and rating agencies. The ideal candidate has exceptional project management skills, deep financial acumen, attention to detail, and the proven ability to communicate complex information clearly and persuasively.
Essential Functions:
- This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Investor Relations and Treasurer and may have one or more direct reports, depending on team structure and business needs.
- This role requires up to 15% travel domestically or internationally, including overnight stays.
- Oversee and direct the strategy, planning, scheduling, and execution of all investor relations events including quarterly earnings calls, investor conferences, analyst days, non-deal roadshows, and post-earnings calls.
- Develop, own and drive the annual IR strategy and engagement calendar, coordinating closely with sell-side analysts, institutional investors, and internal stakeholders.
- Independently manage incoming investor inquiries and correspondence, proactively providing clear, accurate, and consistent information to maintain investor confidence and streamline communication channels.
- Develop comprehensive and impactful investor marketing materials including investor presentations, financial profiles, and IR website content.
- Collaborate with CEO, CFO, Finance Business Partners, Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Marketing/Communications teams to continuously refine investment thesis in response to ongoing evolution of Company strategy
- Serve as a senior advisor to the executive team on investor trends, risks, and opportunities; shape messaging to align with evolving capital markets expectations
- Engage with internal leaders and teams to develop key messages and themes for quarterly earnings calls, investor conferences and strategic investor communications.
- Lead the drafting of press releases and strategic announcements relevant to investors, analysts, and rating agencies, including acquisitions, partnerships, commercial developments, and strategic updates.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day spokesperson for investors and analyst inquiries, effectively communicating Valmont’s financial results, strategy, and business performance, enabling timely responses and reducing reliance on senior management for routine investor inquiries.
- Provide senior management with actionable insights based on investor feedback, stock performance analysis, market sentiment, peer benchmarking, competitive intelligence and opportunities to strengthen investor relations.
- Maintain and enhance IR databases, capturing insights from investor interactions and providing analytical reporting to inform strategic IR engagement.
- Occasionally travel with management to investor conferences and roadshows, facilitating high-quality investor interactions and effective message delivery.

- Perform strategic analysis on Valmont, peers, and market dynamics to inform executives and influence investor messaging.
- Proactively identify continuous improvement opportunities within investor relations processes, systems, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Required Qualifications of a Director-Level Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, communications, or related field with a 8+ years of relevant experience or associate’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience or 12+ years relevant experience in investor relations, corporate finance, or financial communications.
- Proven experience leading investor relations strategy at a public company and managing high-impact investor events and communications, including quarterly earnings processes, investor/analyst days, and executive scripting.
- Demonstrated ability to partner directly with C-level executives and provide actionable capital markets insights.
- Track record of developing and executing investor relations strategies that support valuation, shareholder engagement and corporate positioning.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen with proficiency in interpreting financial statements and modeling, market data, and shareholder analysis.
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex financial concepts.
- Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and deliver consistently under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience with financial analysis platforms such as FactSet, Bloomberg or Capital IQ.
- Strategic thinker with sound judgment, decision-making capabilities, and ability to influence across all organizational levels.
- Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate effectively with external investor audiences and internal stakeholders.
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
- MBA or master’s degree in finance, economics, communications, or related field.
- 12+ years of relevant experience, ideally including investor relations leadership at a public manufacturing company or sell-side/buy-side analyst role
- Advanced proficiency with investor analytics platforms, financial modeling tools, and shareholder databases.
Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
Work is typically performed in an office environment. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods and frequently uses hands and arms while working on the computer. Minimal physical effort is required, with occasional travel expectations. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Minimal lifting up to 15 pounds is occasionally required.
