A Brief Summary of This Position: 

The General Manager (GM) is responsible for full Profit/Loss (P/L) oversight at the site. This includes managing all physical and human resources, strategic development, operations, sales, marketing, budgeting, business expansion, and new construction. The GM will delegate authority to key functional area managers while ensuring operational efficiency, continuous improvement, and business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Regional Manager and oversee site operations.

  • Direct and coordinate activities for optimal efficiency and profit maximization.

  • Manage key functional area managers and supervisors autonomously.

  • Lead sales, marketing, staffing, pricing, labor, asset, and inventory management.

  • Support special projects as requested by the Regional Manager.

  • Oversee manufacturing, material control, safety, purchasing, production planning, and shipping functions.

  • Implement lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Standardize operations for transferability to other sites and new acquisitions.

  • Develop strategies to improve revenue and operational efficiencies.

  • Promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Establish and achieve sales and manufacturing goals.

  • Participate in industry associations and promote the company.

  • Monitor performance and take corrective actions when necessary.

  • Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement programs.

  • Develop annual budgets and long-term strategic plans.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain facility condition.

  • Manage and develop human capital for achieving business objectives.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of experience, or an Associate's degree with 9+ years, or 11+ years of relevant experience.

  • Strong financial and regulatory understanding.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience in lean manufacturing and problem resolution.

  • Ability to travel up to 15% to Coatings locations, trade shows, and/or American Galvanizing Association Technical Forums.

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess:

  • Master’s Degree

  • Experience with Visual Shop, QAD, or other accounting software.
