Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Maintenance Mechanic position in the Salem, OR. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will repair and maintain both mechanical equipment and the structure of the establishment to sustain material production. Additionally, you will…

  • Learn multiple aspects of mechanical and electrical maintenance throughout the shop
  • Assist a mechanic or electrician in associated repairs and maintenance work
  • Procure welding supplies and consumables as well as maintenance equipment as necessary
  • Maintain an incident log of all equipment and structural repairs both weekly and monthly
  • Construct and assemble new machines as well as upgrade older machines

What it takes

Required Qualifications

  • The ability to identify and communicate maintenance or product problems to departmental supervision
  • a minimum of two years work experience in a mechanical maintenance position
  • The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions 
  • The ability to perform basic math functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two years of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • One year of previous experience operating a forklift in a professional environment
  • Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
