A Brief Summary of This Position

This position is responsible for the development of Data Center and Industrial Construction sales across North America hot-dip galvanizing facilities. The role collaborates closely with the Director of Sales, Regional Directors, and General Managers to establish and execute strategies aimed at growing sales and profitability within the Data Center and Industrial Construction markets.

Essential Functions

  • Develop an in-depth market analysis including, but not limited to, its history, trends, expected growth, geographic impact, key companies/contacts, and events.

  • Prepare and/or track reports containing all national customers under the specified market segment including volume trends, pricing, profitability, and Valmont’s performance (on-time delivery, quality, customer survey responses).

  • Create a strategy to further develop Valmont’s footprint within the specified market segment(s). Identify key growth accounts, new customer targets, and over or under-performing customers.

  • Partner with Regional Directors and General Managers to identify priority targets including best fit for potential volumes, price levels, and expectations for delivery. Site capacity and pricing must always be confirmed before communication with customer.

  • Work alongside site sales representative to help educate them on the market(s), so they can support activity with customers local to their facility.

  • Track work related to specified market(s) to ensure expectations are consistently met and act as a liaison between the site and customer to help resolve any challenges.

  • Identify constraints to conversion for targeted accounts – develop and present action plans to overcome the constraints when possible.

  • Track and share large projects related to the specified market(s) with the overall sales team and help ensure we’re given the opportunity to quote all large opportunities.

  • Prepare periodic sales reports for upper management analyzing sales volumes and pricing by customer within specified market segment(s).

  • Attend all major national and regional market events. Network to grow a reputation as a subject matter expert for galvanizing within the market(s).

  • Provide educational presentations to decisions markets within the specified market(s) to increase the specification of hot-dip galvanizing.

  • Ensure all customer communications and orders are promptly and accurately attended to.

  • Develop and maintain a confidential customer profile on each targeted account.

  • Establish and maintain customer master files on all assigned accounts within VCC Max to provide timely information, minimize quotation and order turnaround time, and to maximize accuracy and effectiveness. This includes quote follow-up and call documentation.

  • Promote the use and effectiveness of our VCC Max technology across the market.

  • Participate in national sales meetings/training and attend conferences & tradeshows.

  • Help support sales team development and training as needed.



Required Qualifications

  • Preferred Bachelors with 6+ years relevant experience or associate’s degree with 8+ years relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience

  • Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record

  • Ability to effectively interpret and present information both one-on-one and in front of an audience

  • Ability to calculate basic math concepts to calculate per piece charges, order totals, discounts, proportions, and interest charges

  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

  • Ability to travel nationally and into Canada, approximately 50%.

  • Able to communicate with and work well with people at all levels of the organization both internally and externally.





Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)

  • A proven record of exceptional sales performance both in increased existing business and new business sales development

  • 3+ years’ experience within the specified market segment.

  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues.

  • Talented and skilled at working collaboratively within the organization

  • Lean Manufacturing Background/Supervisory
