A Brief Summary of This Position:
Valmont Utility is seeking a driven and strategic Product Manager to join the Team. The Product Manager role is focused to Composites products for Power Delivery Utility applications. The Manager is responsible for Utility Division goals execution through the creation and maintenance of the product strategy as well as the management of the commercial profitability of the product lines. Managing the vision for growth and profitability of the product lines requires combining primary and secondary research and feedback from sales, business development, operations, and external market resources.
The successful candidate will lead cross-functional teams, working closely with the Sales, Engineering, and Operations Departments to ensure alignment with Division objectives. In this role, the Product Manager conducts margin analysis, industry/market research, and performance measurements to determine product demand, positioning, and profitability. Specific duties include, but are not limited to business case justification, market modeling, pricing policy recommendations, competitive analysis, capability analysis, market position analysis, and market intelligence for the new product development team.
Essential Functions:
Planning
Establishes the product plan/strategy and roadmap in support of the divisional strategy
Identify the business and operational requirements based on customer needs and market feedback
Develop the new product introduction plan based on the voice of the customer input and market research
Analyze the customer details and market potential to provide product forecast guidance
Execution
Analyze the competitive landscape determine market capacity and provide guidance on margins and lead times
Provide margin and lead time guidance to the Project Administration team
Provides financial analysis on product line profitability for current and potential customers or projects
Works with Business Development team to deploy product plan and ensure clear communication of product segment objectives
Analysis of bids and forecast to determine win/loss ratios to provide quote strategy by customer type and region
Executes and maintains the product segmentation process
Assists in the marketing plan development for new product introductions within the product segment
Communication
Provides timely and consistent communication on the analysis of market share, margins, and competitive landscape to divisional leadership
Effectively communicates and trains the business development and sales force on the product strategy/plan
Develops and communicates responses and company positions in response to product-specific challenges
Communicates the current win/loss opportunity detail to the sales and business development team
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate:
A Bachelor’s with six (6) years of related experience, an Associate’s degree with eight (8) years of related experience, or ten (10) years of relevant experience
Minimum five (5) years of demonstrated product leadership experience with a track record of consistent and exemplary achievement
Team leadership required for new product development teams, large project coordination, and strategic sales teams
Ability to travel up to 30 - 50% (Domestic)
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
MBA in Business Management, Engineering, Marketing, or related field
Prior work experience within Utility Power Delivery businesses involving overhead line design and / or construction relating to structures and hardware mounted equipment.
