A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Production Control Supervisor is a highly driven individual that will plan, coordinate, and review all activities related to divisional inventory management, production planning, and scheduling to satisfy customer requirements and divisional objectives. This Supervisory position works closely with site leadership and regional planning.

Essential Functions:

  • This position reports to the Materials Manager and has 3-5 direct reports
  • Responsible for directing the departmental activities in order to meet or exceed profit objectives of the division
  • Develops and manages the shipping and material requirements forecast that is used to project divisional profits
  • Includes developing the master production schedule, long-range material requirements plan, and the long and short-range capacity plans
  • Manages the scheduling of incoming customer sales orders while monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on both the actual and forecasted customer backlogs
  • Monitors and coordinates all activities between production control, manufacturing, commercial channel, traffic, and shipping and provides as a liaison between sales and production control on schedule changes and special handling of critical sales orders
  • Manages and directs all activities of the scheduler and dispatch functions including the preparation and coordination of the shop floor schedules
  • Monitor employee’s performance to ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed and adhered.
  • Defines expected production standards, and monitors performance standards of the assigned personnel
  • Ensures integrity of production schedule
  • Promote a continuous productivity improvement climate that encourages suggestions for operational improvement
  • Administers and supports company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner
  • Trains new employees on divisional and organizational activities and safety policies and procedures
  • Prepares daily time sheets for hourly employees, production summaries, overtime and downtime reports
  • All other duties assigned

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree with 5+ years relevant experience or associate’s degree with 7+ years relevant experience or 9+ years of relevant experience
  • Five years of experience in scheduling, purchasing or a related role
  • Experience with Materials Resource Planning (MRP) and/or Enterprise Resource Planning Systems
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Previous experience in scheduling or operations planning
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to support divisional business objectives
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • The ability to effectively interpret and present information both one-on-one and in front of an audience
  • The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Inventory Management or related field
  • APICS certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and/or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
  • Practical hands-on experience in Lean Manufacturing
  • The ability to calculate figures such as pay changes for employees, proportions and percentages, and product dimensions
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting.  The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings.  Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. Travel requirements for this position is less than 5% of scheduled days.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer.  The employee is occasionally required to move about the office.  Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
