Valmont is urgently hiring to fill various roles in support of our Operations at our Bartow, FL facility, including Production Planner.

A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Production Planner has the ability to accurately schedule all finished goods and components through all phases of the Bartow manufacturing areas.  The incumbent is also responsible to farm out and coordinate outside vendors to accomplish needed capacity requirement. This function must be performed in a manner that balances and compliments the business objectives and resources. The results of this position directly effects on-time shipments, inventory levels, and production levels.

Essential Function:

  • Must possess an understanding of acceptable shop floor control and material handling systems and procedures. 
  • Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of accepted production and inventory techniques. 
  • Schedules customer orders through the manufacturing areas relying on data from Operations, Engineering, and Manufacturing departments.
  • The incumbent must be able to recognize specific priorities in their workload.  Some tasks require immediate actions be taken and appropriate personnel contacted.
  • This position must establish and maintain a close working relationship with Marketing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Material Handling, Vendors and off-site locations.  This relationship must be maintained in a professional and flexible manner due to the continuously changing Marketing and Manufacturing environment
  • The incumbent must possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of accepted production and inventory techniques. 
  • Follow the instructions of superiors and management
  • Maintaining order in your workplace
  • Basic knowledge of the FPC system
  • Enter job info and pole details into scheduler.
  • Schedule poles to meet revenue and customer due date while taking into account plant capacity.
  • Distribute weekly and daily schedules and needed drawings to each department.
  • Make adjustments as needed to changes that become priority.
  • Maintain filed jobs.
  • Create schedule reports to keep track of schedule changes impact on revenue for GM and Plant Manager.
  • Reject poles and reschedule as needed.
  • Work with Cosmetics to enter pole weights and yard location of poles.
  • Work with internal departments and customers to schedule based off of company and customer needs.
  • Create report for FP&L to show various job progress.
  • Log progress in progress tracker.
  • Prioritize drawings based off of need dates.
  • Draw up poles and flange plate drawings from purchase order and pole details.
  • Make necessary drafting corrections after engineer review and then print for scheduler and distribution.
  • Order flange plates for poles as soon as drawings are ready.
  • Log progress in drafting progress tracker.

Other Important Details about the Role:

  • This position reports to the Plant Manager and has no direct reports or indirect reports
  • Must have a high awareness for the safety of other employees and machines used in the production area
  • Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Participate in LEAN and 5S projects, as well as keep immediate production area clean
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a professional manner
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • The ability to work overtime as needed
  • The ability to work in extreme temperatures with exposure to chemicals and irritating particulates
  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • HS Diploma or GED Equivalency and 4+ years of work/education experience or Associates Degree.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing process of spun cast concrete poles.
  • Ability to visually assess of the final products.
  • Basic knowledge of the computer.
  • Current medical examination.
  • Blue print reading is required.

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Posses These Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Authority to operate the crane and the forklift
  • Experience with or knowledgeable of pole production process
  • AUTOCAD Experience Preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Efforts:

  • This position requires the use of force to remove the tip tension place (active) from the top of the pole (weight about 44 lbs.) by pulling the tension place over protruding wires
  • Work on the production floor, mainly standing and walking position.
