Brief Summary: Join our team of engineers in designing the next generation of solar racking and related products. As a Structural Engineer, you'll lead the structural design aspects within our new product development team, collaborating closely with engineers across disciplines and with various stakeholders. You'll be instrumental in completing calculations, analysis, testing, and documentation required for solar racking designs, ensuring compliance with building codes and industry standards.

Essential Functions:

• Perform structural design calculations according to local building codes
• Utilize Structural Analysis software for problem-solving in structural design and optimization
• Produce design documentation for customer qualification and AHJ review
• Conduct and document laboratory or field testing as required
• Participate in technical design review meetings, providing structural design direction
• Provide technical support to other departments and contribute to process improvement initiatives
• Hybrid work schedule with office presence required 2-3 days per week
• Up to 25% travel (domestic and international) required

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• 7+ years of relevant experience (or 5+ years with Master’s degree)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Structural engineering
• Experience with hot-rolled and cold-formed steel design, foundation design, and US building codes
• Proficiency in SAP or ETABs, finite element analysis, and basic programming
• Familiarity with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, probability, and statistics
• Strong technical communication and organizational skills
• Ability to mentor and lead others
• U.S. passport or ability to obtain one for international travel

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess:

• Direct experience with Solar Racking Structures, especially solar trackers
• Structural Engineer (SE) license
• Knowledge of global building codes, particularly Brazil, Europe, and Italy
• Experience with design standards and test protocols in the solar industry
• Familiarity with wind tunnel testing and performance-based engineering
• Experience in automating design calculations and/or developing testing protocols
• Understanding of material specification and manufacturing techniques

The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in Colorado is $115,100 - $179,800. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Valmont Industries considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope of responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
