Starting Pay $25+/hr PLUS $2/hr shift differential

Available Shift: 2nd Shift

Brief Summary of This Position

The Rotary Shapecutter Operator is an individual contributor who enters information from the flat sheet necessary to run the machine. This position burns raw steel to a shape used for the purpose of making a shaft. The incumbent operates overhead crane, plate blaster, cutting torch, and forklift and maintains the plate blaster.

Essential Functions:

  • Locate and load plate to bring into the table
  • Program machine to cut plate
  • Remove and properly dispose of scrap
  • Remove plate once cut
  • Operate and maintain the Blastec equipment
  • Monitor raw plate supply, notify leadperson and Shag truck operator when plate replenishment is needed.
  • Monitor scrap trailer weight limits and notify shag driver when trailer needs to be changed
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, although most frequent lift is 20 pounds
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, sit and squat for up to 100% of the shift
  • Ability to drive forklifts of various capacities
  • Ability to work in non-temperature controlled work environment, as well as work outdoors
  • Ability to wear all required PPE (personal protective equipment) for working in the production facility

    Important Details about the Role

  • Demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures
  • Perform various other duties requested by the supervisor to ensure customer requests are met
  • This position reports to the Large Pole department’s Production Supervisor

Required Qualifications

  • One year relevant experience
  • Read and write clearly
  • Proficient at math
  • Accurately read and use a tape measure, compass , micrometer, mag level, protractor, versa gauge, and caliper
  • Ability to locate information from a computer
  • Proficiency in reading flat sheets

Highly Qualified Candidates

  • One year of previous experience programming machinery
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and IFS
  • One year of previous experience working in a Manufacturing environment
  • One year of previous experience operating a forklift
  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
  • Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
