Shift Available - 1st Shift - 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Compensation - $25.90 per hour with additional $0.75 per hour lead allowance

A Brief Summary of This Position

The primary responsibility of the Lead is to accurately pick, count, and pack parts for our customers. Responsibilities include operating a variety of material handling and packaging equipment in a safe and efficient manner. The position  is also expected to maintain appropriate housekeeping and safety standards.

This position leads by example, serving as a key contributor to the team's success by guiding and mentoring team staff. Models safety, engages team about safety, and takes action for continuous improvement in safety culture. This position takes on significant responsibility for daily departmental operations while assisting with task assignments and fostering the development of team members. This role is instrumental in driving the department's progression and achieving its goals.

Essential Functions

  • Performs duties outside
  • Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner, to include but not limited to: forklift, side loader, straddle truck, shag truck and 53’ trailer, heavy forklift (20,000 pound capacity), hand and banding tools
  • Uses calculator, computer, imperial tape measure, associated inventory screens and hand-held barcode scanner to complete orders. Properly fills out and understands all documents pertaining to packing of irrigation projects
  • Maintains and is responsible for housekeeping in their area
  • Understands documents pertaining to packing of irrigation products
  • Observes and enforces all safety rules to company standards & demonstrates leadership qualities.
  • Leads the activities of others
  • Understands department inventory procedures.
  • Understands and enforces department quality procedures and ensures subordinates follow written work instructions.
  • Follows and meets department work plan to timed standards.
  • Reads part drawings and recognizes major parts by sight (tire, gearboxes, pipe, etc.)
  • Audits locations
  • Ensures accuracy in transaction receiving in parts
  • Ensures daily loading of trailer
  • Work varying shifts as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • The ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, read, write, and count accurately
  • The ability to read, write and understand English documentation used in shipping
  • The ability to write legibly
  • The ability to work with wood and small hand tools such as imperial tape measures, and banders 
  • The ability to stand, stoop, push, pull, walk and lift up to 50 lbs. for 20% of the shift
  • The ability to climb to or work from 8 feet above the ground
  • A satisfactory safety record and be awareness of others safety
  • An acceptable work history and attendance record
  • The ability to work a different shift occasionally if called upon to do so for business needs
  • The ability to work overtime when required to do so for business needs
  • A working knowledge of using e-mail, teams, and zoom
  • Able to present topics to the team using power point.  Leads present our monthly safety meeting that is a prepared power point. 
  • Attention to detail

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

  • The ability to operate forklifts, straddle trucks, shag trucks, or weigh counting scales
  • Material handling and inventory control experience
  • Shipping / receiving experience

Educational Background

  • Must be able to read, write, and understand plainly written documents in English such as order pick lists, move tags, part orders, and rejected tags. Must be able to understand, follow and communicate verbal/written instructions.
  • Do simple math (add, subtract, divide and multiply both whole numbers and fractions).
  • Possess legible penmanship
  • Use a calculator
  • Use a computer

Decision Making

Employee makes frequent routine decisions. May have to make decisions even when complete instructions are not available. Most of this job is covered by standard practices. Employee must be able to make immediate decisions on stock out and schedule changes to maximize productivity. Use of good common sense and quality control procedures are essential aspects of completing this job in a successful manner. Due to ever changing international demands and first-time shipments of new products, independent creativity for loading is required occasionally. Employee must be able to recognize major errors in shipping and part orders and bring them to the attention of their supervisor or respective department manager.

Physical Effort

Physical effort is moderate to heavy. A high degree of physical effort is used due to continuous heavy lifting. Employee is lifting 35 to 50 lbs. approximately 40% of the time. Climbing, standing, bending, or walking is required 40% of the time. Loading of international irrigation products in closed containers can cause the employee to climb and lift in unusual positions. Loading and securing platforms and rail cars means that the employee must be able to climb up to 8’ off of the ground. Pushing and pulling to place carts in close quarters takes extra physical effort. Although some items weigh more, a maximum lift of 50 lbs. is required.
