This Supervisor role is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Structural Engineering functions within the Small Cell engineering team.  This includes structural analysis of small cell products and providing design input based on analysis. The Supervisor will report to the Senior Director of Engineering. The position assists the Director in annual planning and goal setting for the team. The Structural Engineering Supervisor is also responsible for developing individuals within their career track, supporting market changes, and driving accountability to deliver results

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise daily operations of the Small Cell Structural Engineering group
  • Provide leadership and technical support to team, internal customers, and external customers
  • Perform analysis of products to determine structural adequacy per applicable codes and methodologies to include hand calcs and FEA
  • Review and approve all structural engineering analyses and reports for internal and external customers
  • Coordinate with EOR network within Valmont Telecom to ensure all reports receive appropriate PE stamp
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest functions and features for existing and future software tools
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate team members to ensure individual goal achievement and accuracy in all work
  • Provide formal performance plan feedback and evaluate team members as part of the performance management process
  • Lead colleagues and stakeholders to develop or improve functionality of tools, processes, and procedures
  • Recruitment, interviewing, and selection of personnel

Other Important Details about the Role:

Incumbent oversees all functions associated with Structural Engineering.  This includes the coordination of duties performed to ensure timely, appropriate, and continued support for all customer requests.  The incumbent oversees and supervises the day-to-day Structural engineering workload, as well as organizes and executes projects that support the team’s goals. The incumbent supports Product Line Management and Design Engineering through effective utilization of individual strengths within the team. The incumbent will demonstrate and drive a culture of solution providers and technical leadership.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or other related field with 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Knowledge of design codes and standards including IBC and local amendments; AASHTO; AISC; TIA-222
  • Strong technical competence in structural engineering including foundation design
  • Experience with structural analysis software such as tnxTower, Risa-3D, SolidWorks Simulation, etc.
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, planning, communication, mentoring and motivational skills
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with schedule accountability
  • Conceptual, analytical, and organizational skills for developing and implementing processes and procedures
  • Capable of effectively communicating with all levels of management
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural Emphasis or other related field of study
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience with the design of telecommunications structures
  • Strong CAD skills including design applications
  • Knowledge or understanding of computer programming
  • Ten (10) years of related engineering experience
  • Five (5) years of experience in product engineering
  • Two (2) years of experience in project management

Pay $110k - $135k Annually
