A Brief Summary of This Position: 
This role oversees the credit granting process, ensuring consistent application of credit policies and conducting regular credit reviews to balance sales and bad debt. It requires expertise in manufacturing and commercial credit, including financial statement analysis, trade references, and payment history, to set credit limits that optimize sales while minimizing risk. The incumbent will manage customer accounts, including manufacturing backlog, A/R balance, and credit limits.

Essential Functions:

  • Reports to the Director of Credit and Collections, overseeing five direct reports.

  • Requires up to 5% travel (domestic/international).

  • Monitors customer accounts, adjusting credit terms, limits, and shipping schedules as needed.

  • Collects past-due balances and monitors market conditions.

  • Investigate prospective customer financial status and recommend credit approvals or rejections.

  • Maintains customer credit files in the ERP system.

  • Establishes and updates credit limits and special terms.

  • Review collection reports to assess the effectiveness of current collection policies.

  • Collaborates with teams to resolve customer disputes affecting payments.

  • Prepares regular reports for the Director.

  • Assists in credit policy formulation.

The Credit Manager manages credit risk, collections, and customer accounts, supporting various divisions including Utility, Lighting, and Structures in Canada. Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently. The role directly influences receivable turnover and profitability, requiring a high level of financial analysis to mitigate risk and ensure timely order flow.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, or an Associate’s degree with 8+ years, or 10+ years of relevant experience.

  • Previous credit or accounting experience.

  • Strong numeric, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance or Accounting.
