Become a vital part of our engineering team focused on shaping the future of solar racking and associated products. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will lead the structural design endeavors within our innovative product development team, collaborating closely with cross-disciplinary engineers and stakeholders. Your expertise will be pivotal in completing calculations, analyses, testing, and documentation essential for solar racking designs, ensuring adherence to building codes and industry standards. In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will participate in technical design review meetings, offer structural design guidance, provide support to other departments, and contribute to process enhancement initiatives. With a hybrid work schedule requiring office presence 2-3 days per week and up to 25% travel, both domestically and internationally, this role offers a unique opportunity to drive impactful change in the renewable energy sector.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 7+ years of relevant experience (or 5+ years with Master’s degree)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Structural engineering
  • Experience with hot-rolled and cold-formed steel design, foundation design, and US building codes
  • Proficiency in SAP or ETABs, finite element analysis, and basic programming
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, probability, and statistics
  • U.S. passport or ability to obtain one for international travel

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess:

  • Direct experience with Solar Racking Structures, especially solar trackers
  • Structural Engineer (SE) license
  • Knowledge of global building codes, particularly Brazil, Europe, and Italy
  • Experience with design standards and test protocols in the solar industry
  • Familiarity with wind tunnel testing and performance-based engineering
  • Experience in automating design calculations and/or developing testing protocols
  • Understanding of material specification and manufacturing techniques

The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in Colorado is $115,100 - $179,800. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Valmont Industries considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope of responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. The position will be posted until filled.
