Essential Functions:

Supply Chain System Management and Analysis

  • Effectively manage projects relating to the development and implementation of Supply Chain Logistics Systems project plans
  • Manage Supply Chain data in various ERP systems, translate business requirements into the design and development of data models and reports, identify trends, and ensure accuracy and readiness of data
  • Maintain and update detailed Supply Chain savings and recurring Supply Chain performance models, and provide analysis  to senior management on weekly, monthly, and/or ad hoc basis
  • Define and develop Supply Chain performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of Supply Chain factors, and provide ongoing analysis in areas such as transportation costs, inventory levels, materials procurement, supplier performance, and delivery processes
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate Supply Chain with business systems or processes, such as procurement, order management, accounting, sales, marketing, logistics, production, or shipping
  • Formulate mathematical, statistical, and simulation models of Supply Chain risks, relating constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives, and their numerical parameters
  • Validate data in various databases to ensure accuracy and consistency, identify root causes of data inconsistency, and implement corrective action plans to meet business requirements
  • Demonstrate full knowledge of the product lines and ERP systems, and serve as a technical leader for assigned systems and/or service development, ability to educate and train end-users to a technology-driven Supply Chain
  • Provide complex Supply Chain system support and guidance to department members, research and respond to requests from functional groups, and resolve questions and issues related to reports and databases on a timely manner
  • Assist with development of projects plans to meet deadlines for major initiatives, drive various groups and cross-functional projects to promote smooth implementation of Supply Chain initiatives

Supply Chain Strategy and Optimization

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain management team to forecast demand, establish forecasting procedures, models and quotas to identify changes and trends, and to create supply plans to optimize service levels and maintain Supply Chain System efficiency
  • Collaborate with senior managers and decision makers to identify and solve a variety of Supply Chain problems and to clarify management objectives
  • Challenge current Supply Chain and logistics strategies for product lines in order to make sure that the best and most appropriate strategy is being used, and to implement a technology-driven Supply Chain strategy that effectively and efficiently respond to customer and market demand
  • Develop Supply Chain planning metrics to reduce cost allocation algorithms, to improve competitiveness and responsiveness to global demand, and to improve utilization of global production capacity and inventory
  • Work in conjunction with business units and manufacturing sites in assessing and evaluating suppliers’ (vendors’) performances to determine the appropriate metrics that have been met by the suppliers at any given time period
  • Integrate the business strategy and knowledge of business system capabilities into vision, and evaluate effectiveness of current and future Supply Chain and logistical initiatives
  • Reports into the Senior Director of Finance with no direct reports
  • Travel overnight up to 15% of the year

Other Important Details about the Role:

  • Support business functions, working with functional leaders and providing periodical and ad-hoc analyses and reports as required
  • Execute project management disciplines to ensure projects and tasks completed on time and within budget, and business requirements delivered
  • Demonstrate thorough financial and statistical knowledge and ability to handle complex analytical issues on ad-hoc basis
  • Abides by all policies and procedures of Valmont Industries, Inc.
  • Conducts research and seeks methods for moving the company to lean manufacturing

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Bachelor’s with 5+ years relevant experience or Associate’s Degree with 7+ years relevant experience or 9+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with integrating and implementing Supply Chain Logistics processes
  • Strong understanding of Supply Chain principles, practices, and procedures in manufacturing environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Suite software skills, especially Excel modeling, Excel data analysis and developers’ tool pack, knowledge of VBA
  • Advanced knowledge of business intelligence and/or analytical/statistical software: Oracle, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Minitab
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning ERP software and related tool pack, IFS
  • Hands on experience of logistics and Supply Chain planning software: Transportation Management System TMS
  • Knowledge of project management and process mapping software: Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio
  • Ability to work with various software packages
  • Strong understanding of project management principles.
  • Experience with integrating and implementing Supply Chain Logistics processes
  • Passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain management, Information Technology, Operations or Finance
  • American Production and Inventory Control Society APICS certificate desired: CPIM and/or CSCP certificate
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to support divisional business objectives
  • Experience with SQL languages

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer.  The employee is occasionally required to move about the office.  Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer
