Brief Summary
The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, consolidating, and communicating shipment needs thru the shipping department to ensure strategic and timely customer shipments. The incumbent will provide support for inventory, cycle counting and communication to various departments. The incumbent will collaborate with both internal and external customers in order to meet the needs of the customers and provide timely transportation as well as accurate product shipping. The Shipping Coordinator will provide production cards and print tags to guide the production floor on customer/shipments needs. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing Valmont Sales and Customers with certification specs for product.
Essential Functions
• Creates and plans each truck load that is shipped from the plant
• Consolidates and provides routing to ensure efficient loads are being shipped
• Creates picklists and bol (ship papers) for all loads that are shipping
• Investigates and solves transactional errors to ensure accurate storeroom data, as well as discrepancy between sales, shipping and invoicing coordinator
• Ensures accurate transactions for end of month production and shipping
• Collaborate with auditing department on cycle counts to ensure accuracy at all levels
• Ensures inventory transactions are accurate and timely including rejected pieces, lost part forms, and transfer sheets
• Researches and provides records for certification of product needed for Customers and Sales Department
• Uses Cyperquery, QAD and TMS to provide various reports
• Data entry and reporting for various departments including production and sales, daily shipping dollars
• This position reports into the Shipping Supervisor and does not have any direct or indirect reports
• This role does not require any travel
Other Important Details
• Responsible for printing production cards and ship tags
• Scanning various documents using laser fiche
• Provide assistance/back up to Release Coordinator, and other departments including Production Control, Purchasing and Receiving as needed
• Builds collaboration between various departments to ensure strategic and logistical needs are met in a timely fashion
• Partners with the Shippers on production floor to access and guide the truck loading process as necessary
Required Qualifications
• High School diploma with 4+ years of work/educational experience or associate's degree
• Proven public relations skills both written and verbally
• Ability to operate standard office equipment
• Efficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Proven experience with planning and processing transportation logistics
Highly Qualified
• Working knowledge of QAD, TMS, Radley, Cyberquery
