A Brief Summary of This Position:
Under the direction of the Production Supervisor or Lead Person, the Stacker Crane Operator will be responsible for operating the stacker crane to support storeroom, shipping, and manufacturing. Responsible for checking stacker crane, rails, wheels, condition of cables and reporting any unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel. Transports product and raw materials from inventory locations to manufacturing work areas.
Shift: 2nd (Evenings) Monday-Friday 1pm-9pm
Starting Hourly Pay Rate: $19.65 + $1.00 for shift differential
Opportunity for step pay increases at 90 days, 1 year & 2 years
Essential Functions:
Operate stacker crane to support storeroom, shipping and manufacturing
Use tape measure and micrometer to measure dimensions of raw material
Frequently operates straddle trucks and forklifts to move product to its proper location
Be responsible for inventory accuracy while performing staging, loading/unloading, and delivery of product and materials from inventory location, manufacturing WIP order and shipping requirements.
Perform cycle counts as required
Use inventory picklists to remove product from inventory to manufacturing WIP orders and shipping orders
Loads product and materials on trailers from inventory locations and stage loaded trailers in trailer staging area
Transport bolsters materials to staging areas and to/from inventory locations
Help perform preventive maintenance on equipment
Reports any unsafe issues to the department lead person, supervisor or maintenance technician
Maintain good housekeeping by keeping work area free of debris and trash
Ensure all scrap tubes from the tube mill and small pole manufacturing departments are disposed of properly.
Use stacker magnetic crane to unload materials from trailers and rail cars and receive into inventory
Use proper transaction to move material in and out of inventory
Maintain appropriate professional competencies, certifications, licenses, etc., necessary to perform job
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Read tape measure & micrometer
Ability to read and write English
Ability to read & write, perform basic math: add, subtract, decimals and fraction
Become a certified forklift operator
Become proficient in operating a straddle truck
Complete overhead crane training program
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
1 year prior experience operating a Stacker Overhead Crane
High School Diploma or GED
1 year prior experience working in a manufacturing environment
1 year prior working experience operating heavy equipment
The ability to accurately and honestly check one’s own work for quality assurance
Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
Incumbent will also be exposed to production facilities where specific PPE will be required such as hand, hearing, foot, eye, and head protection. There will also be exposure to outside elements for extended periods of time. Being outside will also expose them to material handling equipment such as forklifts, straddle trucks, and shag trucks.
Physical effort is moderate to heavy. A high degree of physical effort is used due to continuous heavy lifting. Employee is lifting 35 to 50 lbs. approximately 80-90% of the time. Standing, bending, or walking is required 85% of the time. Loading ESS products can cause the employee to climb and lift in unusual positions. Securing platforms, containers and flatbeds means that the employee must be able to climb up to 8’ off the ground. Pushing and pulling to place carts in close quarters takes extra physical effort. Although some items weigh more, a maximum lift of 50 lbs. is all that is required.
