A Brief Summary of This Position: 

As a Global Project Manager, you are responsible for the successful execution of International Operations projects and overall project delivery. You will be responsible for reviewing, planning and directing Operations and Supply Chain program and/or project initiatives. You will drive consistent process and practices across International Irrigation, resulting in predictable, measurable services. You will work with senior leaders, both internal and external, to guarantee alignment of personnel and services with priorities while creatively identifying solutions to help Operations to operate more effectively. Furthermore, you will serve as a contributor among all Global Valmont Irrigation teams to establish a common practice for project delivery.


Essential Functions:

  • Manage internal and external projects from creation to successful implementation in a cross-functional environment
  • Manage customer expectations and maintain a high level of customer trust
  • Communicate needs and schedules to project team members, and ensure plans are in place and standards are followed
  • Present and explain project information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and gains understanding
  • Allocate appropriate resources to ensure that complex projects are completed within committed time, scope and budget
  • Maintain regular written and in-person communications with our executives, department heads, and end-users regarding important Operations activities
  • Help develop project management standards and procedures
  • Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables
  • Use industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution
  • Help develop project management standards and procedures
  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement and make adjustments
  • You will report to the International Operations Manager, you will have no direct or indirect reports
  • Ability to travel up to 20% both domestic and international, overnight travel required

Other Important Details about the Role:

  • Initiate and implement new technologies, methodologies and process to support our goals
  • Skill in conceptualizing creative solutions, and documenting them and presenting/selling them to senior management
  • Coach the team to initiate and present the right questions to gain insight into the business issues and needed resolutions

What it takes:

  • Preferred Bachelors with 5+ years relevant experience or Associates Degree with 7+ years relevant experience or 9+ years of relevant experience
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience as a project manager in a project management-based environment
  • Experience implementing and maintaining capital projects to support a corporate business environment / function

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil or a related field
  • Master's degree
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Fluent in Russian, Portuguese, Chinese or Arabic
  • Familiar with the alignment between project management, lean manufacturing and operations
  • Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall system development methodologies
  • Experience in managing large scale capital projects, including manufacturing plant design and construction, plant expansion (building and equipment) and development of new manufacturing capabilities globally
  • Work with government and non-government organization to manage legal and environmental aspects of the project

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. You are required to sit for extended periods of time, and talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. You will use proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and position, keyboard location and height, and see that proper wrist rests are used. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. Occasional travel (up to 20%) may be required to sites both domestically and internationally. You are frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with multiple files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk when moving about the office. You must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
