A Brief Summary of This Position:

The primary role of the Training/Translation Specialist is to connect and work with all employees and new hires on their training and support shift supervisor in advancing their skills. The Training/Translation Specialist will work with the production supervisor, peers, and other departments to contribute to Valmont's overall success. The Training/Translation Specialist must be a person of passion who has the desire to excel and deliver results. You will report directly to the Director of Human Resources and will train new hires and employees in their designated area. Effective communication, leadership, teamwork, and motivation with all employees while following Valmont's standards and procedures are important for this role.

Essential Functions:

  • You will report to the Director of Human Resources and has no direct reports
  • Will work onsite and available to work a variety of shifts depending on business needs
  • Use delivery methods such as classroom training, e-learning, on-the-job training, and workshops to train new ELL hires
  • Deliver training courses directly to manufacturing employees and new hires
  • Periodically evaluate and update ongoing training programs
  • Improve process for training and talent development for manufacturing employees
  • Through training and relationships, create an environment that promotes and strengthens Valmont's culture of safety
  • Complete training checklist for new hires and employees
  • Recommend additional training for employees based on performance
  • Be a role model of safety standards, providing training and coaching employees
  • Observe production floor for on-the-spot learning opportunities
  • Provide feedback to supervisor and Human Resources on employee performance and training
  • Notify shift supervisor of any roadblocks that are prohibiting scheduled training to occur and reschedule as needed to keep training on track to meet goals and deadlines
  • Work closely with your production supervisor, peers, and other Departments to contribute to Valmont's overall success
  • Promote a continuous improvement climate that encourages suggestions from the team by supporting all Lean and cost savings function
  • Administer and support company procedures in a fair and consistent manner

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • High School diploma and 4+ years of work/educational experience or Associate's degree
  • Fluency in Spanish. Ability to read, write, and speak in said foreign language.
  • Ability to interact and train employees in a variety of learning levels utilizing different tools and resources
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts depending on business need
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to support divisional business objectives
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish tasks and reach goals through the work of the team
  • Ability to learn/understand all jobs within manufacturing including but not limited to welding, galvanizing, shipping, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, process sheets, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to solve problems and make an informed decision based on the situation
  • Communicate and interact with coworkers, at all levels, in a positive manner
  • Effectively interpret and present information both one-on-one and in front of a group
  • Highly organized person with excellent attention to detail

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in training, human resources, or business administration
  • Experience managing training programs in a manufacturing environment
