How you will contribute


Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for an Electrical Technician position for our Valmont Torrent Engineering Business.  Torrent Engineering is a Northern Indiana manufacturer of custom water pumping systems.  We are looking for a highly driven individual that will assist in the assembly of large horsepower motor control systems.

  Additionally, you will. . .

-       Assemble and wire motor control panels

-       Install control panels on pump station assemblies and install interconnecting conduit and wiring.

-       Load operating parameters and programs for PLC’s and operator interfaces.

-       Test motor controls upon final assembly before shipment.

-       Assist with customer troubleshooting factory phone support.

-       Occasionally travel to customer locations to provide support with installation, start-up and troubleshooting.


What it takes


Required Qualifications

-          Minimum of two years’ experience or equivalent technical school training in industrial/commercial electrical construction practices including single/three phase power systems, power and control wiring, conduit and duct work, knowledge of NEC, ability to read electrical schematics, wire labeling and use of tools associated with these types of activities

-          Comfortable with a shop environment and use of associated tools.

-          Previous experience with PLC based (Allen Bradley) industrial logic systems, graphic operator interfaces, variable frequency drives, motor starters, and instrumentation a plus

-          Working knowledge of Microsoft Products including; Excel, Word and Outlook

-          Demonstrated strengths in interpersonal skills, including the ability to professionally communicate with a variety of people in a positive manner to build and cultivate lasting business relationships.

-          Ability to push, pull or lift up to a maximum of 50 lbs.

-          The ability to occasionally travel domestically and/or globally.


Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

-          Prior experience with AutoCAD drafting software

-          The ability to solve complex problems with high attention to detail and work in a fast-paced environment subject to specific deadlines

-          A person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.
