This position is accountable for planning, organizing, controlling and supervising the activities of the Manufacturing Engineering Department, 5CC, and capital equipment for the McCook facility.  Provides Manufacturing Engineering support for method improvement and cost reduction to the site.  The incumbent  work in close coordination with the Plant Manager, Operational department heads, and leaders of Material Control, Purchasing, Accounting, Product Engineering, Sales & Marketing, Plant Engineering, and Information Services to ensure a cooperative effort in coordinating the manufacturing operations.  Incumbent must possess the temperament to ensure the lines of communication are strong so as to achieve results.  The incumbent makes and is responsible for independent decisions and recommendations that are authoritative and have impact of manufacturing and related activities of the company.  The incumbent is responsible for justifying all expenses for capital and expense projects.  The incumbent is responsible for creativity, foresight and judgment in planning, organizing and managing engineering programs and activities.     


Basic Qualifications:



•         A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Technology or one of the Sciences from an accredited College or University.


•         Ten (10) years of experience in an engineering role.


•         Two years of supervisory experience in an operations-related engineering function.


•         The ability to travel domestically up to 5% of the time.

Additional Qualifications:


•         Well-working knowledge of manufacturing processes including welding, galvanizing, stamping, machining, and tooling.


Preferred Qualifications:



•         Lean certifications or proven implementation experience


•         Experience working with mechanized irrigation systems


•         Six Sigma experience


•         The ability to design and conduct a DOE (design of experiment)


•         AWS (American Welding Society) certification


•         PE (Professional Engineer) certification


•         A Master’s degree


•         Fifteen (15) years of high-level engineering experience
