A Brief Summary of This Position:

This site leadership position is accountable for directing the Administrative and Production/Delivery activities of the steel pole operations; optimizing product sales, with efficiencies to provide maximum possible net income and cash flow, while maintaining the highest possible levels of product quality and employee safety.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure that all administrative, supervisory and worker positions are staffed with the best qualified personnel available.
  • Provide oversight for all necessary training and certification programs to maintain highest possible level of proficiency, productivity and professionalism.
  • Drive team engagement through regular coaching, feedback and involvement in day to day operations. Foster an environment of open communication.
  • Implement, monitor and enforce company policies and procedures in partnership with HR an operational leadership.
  • Ensure that regular, timely and job specific safety training is conducted for all plant employees, as part of a comprehensive safety program to meet all industry, federal and local safety, health and occupational standards and laws.
  • Achieve corporate standard operating procedure objectives. Empower all employees to seek and recommend work methods, tools and procedures to improve quality, efficiency and safety.
  • Maintain highest industry product quality standards and lead ongoing continuous improvement efforts related to quality. 
  • Ensure that production and shipment of product meets or exceeds the conformance and delivery expectations of product users and customers.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance procedures in an effort to maintain and protect physical corporate assets.
  • Develop and maintain a dedicated, motivated and productive workforce in partnership with the Plant Manager and key plant supervisors.  
  • Oversee production of customer project specific product designs and applications which meet or exceed all national and local structural, building, safety codes and standards.
  • Achieve timely quotation and bid response, optimum plant utilization and time product delivery by establishing engineering priorities and schedules; and performing routine product design calculations during periods of high activity.
  • Achieve and exceed, when possible, corporate and business unit Sales and Profit objectives.
  • Seek and develop long term customer relationships by meeting and exceeding customer expectations at every opportunity.
  • Build mutual trust and understanding with all customer through open honest dialog, by insuring that all actions taken by the company or on its behalf, are consistent with company Core Values.
  • Develop new products and applications by working closely with customers in solving problems of design, public acceptance and economics and understanding the business, social and political environment of the customer.
  • Anticipate changes in business strategies, markets, competition and regulatory demands through participation in trade associations, and dialog with industry leaders and professionals.  
  • Maintain ongoing active relationships with industry related business by making frequent site visits during project construction, assisting consulting engineers with designs to meet our mutual clients need, assisting storekeepers in account for materials and receipts, etc.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Preferred Bachelors with 10+ years of relevant experience or Associates Degree with 12+ years relevant experience or 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • Seven or more years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Five or more years of management experience in manufacturing. 
  • Experience with budget and cost management, working knowledge of all areas of production, and experience working with transmission or distribution utilities is ideal
  • Experience using MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, including overnights

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

  • B.S. in Manufacturing, Business, Technical, or related field is preferred.
  • Masters Degree
  • Prior experience as a Plant Manager of a manufacturing facility

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in a manufacturing plant environment and the incumbent needs to be able to move about the office and production environments. There is relatively constant exposure to conditions such as dust, dirt, heat, fumes, and cold as well as noise levels above 80 decibels. Many aspects of this role are physical and the incumbent has to be able to lift up to 50 lbs. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The incumbent is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, feel, as well as balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
