A Brief Summary of This Position

This position is ultimately responsible for management of Valmont’s Welder Training Program.   Responsibilities include: curriculum development, curriculum management, instructor training, and overall program direction and leadership.  The incumbent will train new welding instructors on execution of welding program, and work directly with key stakeholders to continuously improve the program.  The incumbent will audit, and monitor surveys, scores, and data to ensure consistent and positive results.   Additional responsibilities may include report outs on key objectives and metrics. 

Essential Functions:

  • The incumbent is responsible for the direction and leadership of the program, and must evaluate surveys, scores and key metric data to ensure direction is aligned with key stake holders, and company initiatives. 
  • The incumbent is responsible for the development of creative training content and lab activities.
  • The incumbent is responsible for developing a system to maintain the curriculum and deployment of revised training materials. 
  • The incumbent is responsible for training instructors on execution of the program.
  • The incumbent is responsible for auditing and evaluating the instructors.  
  • The incumbent will be required to assist with equipment setup, specification, and management of current sites, as well as setup and configuration of new sites.
  • The incumbent must review feedback from key stake holders, surveys, test scores and metrics to make methodical adjustments to the program.
  • The incumbent must audit the training programs to ensure consistent delivery of curriculum across the division.  
  • Approximately 50% travel within North America (Including US & Canada)

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Extensive experience creating, managing, and executing curriculums
  • Leadership experience involving training applications
  • Extensive skills in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Knowledgeable of welding processes, certification codes and standards, blueprint reading and shop math
  • Preferred Bachelors with 6+ years relevant experience or Associates Degree with 8+ years relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelors in Engineering preferred
  • Desired: AWS CWE certification

Working Environment and Physical Efforts

Work is typically performed in a manufacturing plant environment and the incumbent needs to be able to move about the office and production environments. There is relatively constant exposure to conditions such as dust, dirt, heat, fumes, and cold as well as noise levels above 80 decibels. Many aspects of this role are physical and the incumbent has to be able to lift up to 50 lbs. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The incumbent is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, feel, as well as balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
